Message I saw that and thought myself WTF. I should have proof read it.

I am bilingual but thats not the real problem as my english is better than my spanish.

And for reference I was born in Chicago :-)

The question you want to know is what is a better system a single MAF or MAP?

The answer is it depends on your needs for example.

Say you want to use water injection or alcholol injection or going to NOS or you are running open air turbos. A MAP based system will work better because it doesn't get affected like a MAF would.

If you think carefully of what HotWire MAF is and how it calculates flow you will realize that its just a piece of wire that is heated and the amount of air that pass thru it and cools it and affects it air flow is what is registered.
BTW the MAF has a builtin Air intake temp sensor and adjusts the flow based on the intake temp.

So what happens if you shot a bit of water before the MAF? it screwes it up, what if you shoot it after? Then your Air intake temp is also off so that means your flow is also off.

The answer to using a MAF system is to disconnect the wires that goto the MAF's AIT and use an external AIT and place it right before the Throttle body so you can properly detect the Air temp. We have done this on a super charged mustang. We adjusted the timing table so that if a very low air intake temp change is seen it takes away 2-4 points of timing which comes into affect when used with NOS. I am going to be doing this to a a fuel map I am working on for the 300ZX and will probably release it later. I predict the car to run safer because it will account for any variances in the intercooler performance.

MAFs have the added complexity that they require to be used somewhere along the intake system.

Recently we did a 350Z with a rods, pistons, and cams and the Greddy TTkit, greddy had us install the MAF after the intercooler. That really worries me as the air is pressurized and much more turbulant but it has the advantaged that it is metering the actual air making into the motor and the proper air temp as well.

Most people make more power with MAPs versus MAFs because the factory MAFs are usually to small.

What is a better system? It depends on the application. What is an easier system to tune and setup? A MAP. And remember the old phrase "KISS" Keep it simple Stupid.

For reference I am going to be using dual MAFs in my car.

Carlos
