Message inherently, result in shorter stopping distances. They only change one of the characteristics of the brakings system (thermal control or temperature sensitivity, feel, compliance, etc.) to better suit the driver or conditions (such as racing and desire for reduced fade). Simply generating more clamping force does not result in shorter stopping distances because you are limited by the friction created on the tire's contact patch. If you can lock up your stock brakes (or get the ABS to kick in in our cars), you are already at the limit of your car's deceleration ability and you cannot stop any faster, no matter how much more clamping force you generate. The only real way to get shorter distances (assuming brake fade is already addressed) is to get stickier tires.
