A note before I begin....I know absolutely NOTHING about the development of ECUs other than the JWT and I make no claims or assumptions about them. What I do know about the ecu is based on a casual phone conversation.....
One afternoon when I called them(JWT) about a Z that was having some odd problems we eventually moved to the topic of his ECUs. While he didn't appear to care about competition (the potential competition was just starting then) he was confident in his program. Anyway...the way it was tested as was told to me..... The test vehicle was filled with gas, driven around during the day in a SoCal summer for long periods of time with the a/c on. Then the testing was performed on the highway with full power runs. If I remember correctly there were two people in the car. Basically a heavily loaded and heat soaked car. He did mention that there is a hole in the map in a specific area that the AFC can be tuned to take care of. It was the on-road testing with real world loads that I liked. On a related note.....I'm becoming very skeptical of dyno a/f tuning. I've watched cars that pull one a/f ratio on the dyno pull drastically different (and leaner) ratios on the street.
