Message lower boost levels when knock is sensed. Again, this is the reason JWT does not retard timing in the event of detonation. They are counting on the fact that you are going to stay on the gas even when detonation happens. I will say this again: If you are throwing 15psi into the motor and begin detonating and the timing all of a sudden retards, it's going to be ugly. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree with what you are saying about tuning the A/F and adding the timing buffer in there. But again you are skipping the part about maintaining full boost while retarding timing.

Lets say we have a test car and it is on the dyno. Pretend we are going to perform a test to result in the least amount of engine damage in the event of detonation. For test purposes, we set it to 15psi and lay a brick on the throttle. Let's say we could manually introduce detonation for test purposes. Are you saying that when detonation begins, it's safer to retard timing and dump fuel (while at full boost, brick on the gas pedal)? And with that are you saying that JWT is less safe for NOT retardinging timing? Or is JWT correct in that retarding timing while maintaining full boost will very likely be catastrophic?

And I stick to JWT tuning the chip for you NOT having stock solenoids. If they counted on you having them, then they probably would have designed a different safety map more similiar to the stock maps because they know that boost would be dropped as well as the timing being retarded. The reason they DON'T change the 'safety' maps is because boost level will NOT drop when knock is sensed.
