Message or high rpm runs. I had slight rod knock at idle the last 1000 miles. Off idle the engine was quiet. If the clearance is too high( rod knock) oil will get suck out of bearing at high rpm because of centrifical force (oil starvation).
I was running up to 6900 rpm on most of my runs . Then I noticed my factory tach was way off by 600 rpm. Factory tack reads 7500 rpm but I was really doing 6900 according to the techdom. I bought aftermarket tach and went by that to 7500 rpm. Shortly after that , bearing went.
That is my theory.
