| and I also know that both are going through the same lense as they are shining. The distance and width the light shine have nothing to do with the beam pattern. You don't have to re-aim your headlights for HIDs, unless they are already out of alignment. The HID beam is much more focused and defined, so if your headlights are out of aim, you will notice it MUCH easier with the HIDs than the standard stock bulbs. When I installed my HIDs, I noticed that my headlights were aimed too low.
