Message	others. Their intentions might be OK...but it is easier to promise something hopeful than to face up to reality that a job is going to take more time & money. He wants the immediate, short term solution of saying what you want to hear. He won't stay in business long if he isn't credible...we can all understand the need for extra time & expense to finish a job...but we want the shop to be up-front with us...not tell us just what we want to hear.
