the high hp Z owners, the ones that really need a wideband o2 and traction control in the car. For the stage 3 owner, we offer the chip upgdares as well. I hate to post that on a general forum, but the truth is, that EVERY single MOD will change your setup and tuning COMPLETELY. So you hav eto retune after every mod.
Example: Oen of our regular cusomers has a stage 5-6 TTZ, all bolts on, no turbos or injectors. The car is REALLY nice and fast. We installed an Apollo FMIC on the car in September. Then we burned our own chip, tuned to his mods. The car has a HKS AFR fuel controller, so we took it on the street with the wideband O2 sensor. The tuning was perfect, I really ha dto pull only 1 (one) % fuel on teh topend. That was done withthe Apollo FMIC. Several weeks ago, at 9 pm, while we were messing around, he decides to go for the Greddy 3row 4" FMIC ( .5" thicker than the Apollo). We start the install, and around 12 am ( yes, AM), we take the car out. It runs like crap. The only thing was a bit bigger FMIC. And it is a Greddy core, so it the BEST out there. The car needed some serious retuning. The spoolup ogf the turbos changed a bit, so that threw all teh tuning off COMPLETELY.
A quick tune up run on teh highway, and the car is insanely FAST NOW, for stock turbo Z. At 15 psi and the Apollo, teh car would make my 549rwhp Z look funny). Now with the bigger FMIC, I do not want to line up with him. He has MAJOR traction problems in 1-2-3 gears.
Point: No chip can be perfectly tuned for your car. That is why we ask for all the mods when we do our chips. JWt chips are based on inj size and number of intakes, that is all. Z1 offer them in stages. But still, that is not enogh to achieve to most power and smoothest powerband. About the price on the AEM, it will definitely be over 1K. All the AEM PnPs are over 1K, and the ones with the integrated WB O2 are over 1.5K. George
