People seem to think that since a part is aftermarket, it must be stronger. The Nissan rods are pretty damn solid. I'd think that Nissan has quite a bit of experience in designing parts for engines, and they wouldn't make a poorly designed rod for their engine. Now you take an aftermarket parts manufacturer that produces a much lighter rod, it contains less metal. It is most likely weaker. Unless Nissan designed theirs poorly and put a lot of metal where it shouldn't be, and Eagle designed theirs much better and only put the metal where it should be, I don't see the lighter Eagle rod being as strong as the stock one. For most cars, they're replacing a cheap, cast rod with a higher quality forged rod. In our case, we already have a forged and shot peened rod. Eagle claims a set of their rods can rake 600 hp. But people have already proven that the stock rods can take more than 600 at the rear wheels. Unless I see that people are snapping stock rods at powerlevels that the Eagle rods can take, I'll continue to believe that people are simply buying perceived peace of mind and nothing else when they buy the lighter Eagle rod.
