I finally bought a Z. It's a 91, with 91k miles, and I paid $11k for it. I feel I got a good deal on it, not a sick deal, but a pretty good deal nonetheless. The exterior is pretty much perfect. There are about 3 tiny spots on the front right quarter panel near the hood where some touch-up paint was used, but it's no biggie to me since the rest of the paint is perfect with zero fading. The interior is also perfect. The only real concern I have is that the clutch seems awkward. A friend of mine helped me drive it back from Atlanta, and he says that the clutch is a lot stiffer and has a lot less play than the clutch that was in his Z32. He put a new clutch and slave/master cylinder into his Z32, so I figure his clutch is the baseline for how a Z clutch should be. So either this Z has an upgraded clutch the previous owner didn't know about, or it either needs to be adjusted or possibly even have some of the hydraulic system replaced. It's been 2 years since I've driven a manual car around much so I'm not really the best judge of how the clutch should feel. Here's a few quick pics I snapped of it earlier. I'm not gonna go on a picture rampage until I get it washed, it got a little dirty since it's been raining pretty much all weekend.

I've only fully stepped down on the throttle once briefly, and I've officially come to the conclusion that all you guys that mod your TT's extensively are nuts......really. I've driven a few 5.0's and F-Body's with similar power, and there's no comparison. I almost shat myself when the boost came on. And BTW, 16psi in a 3SI is nothing like 13.5psi in a TTZ. So here are my plans for the car. Change out all the fluids in the next week, buy a car cover to keep it from getting crapped on, change out the blown BOSE speakers, and replace the very old tires. Other than that I should be good to go. It's gonna be a looooong time before this car ever sees another "mod." But I'm more than happy as is. The car is in great shape and hopefully it won't become any real financial burden since I plan on owning it for a very long time. It's only going to be about $80/month to add to our insurance policy, and it gets better gas mileage than the van.
