Message Torque = torque.

If you have 2 cars, both with 300 lbs of torque, it doesn't matter which one has the longer stroke or bigger bore because you already know what the torque output is.

This reminds me of a conversation that I had with a Honda owner. He was trying to tell me that his Civic can take a Camaro on the highway. I told him it couldn't, and explained that the Camaro had twice the horsepower as his car. He went on to explain how his car had dual overhead cams and VTEC, and that the Camaro was still a crappy pushrod. He said that the VTEC and DOHC would enable his car to breathe better at higher RPM's, while the Camaro and its pushrods would have trouble breathing at those RPM's. This explanation sounded good to him.

But then I explained that even WITH the DOHC, VTEC, and good high rpm breathing, his car is still only putting out 150 hp at its peak... when it's in its element...performing its best, and that's as good as it's going to get. Meanwhile the Camaro, pushrods and bad breathing and all, is still putting out 300+ hp.

My point is that it doesn't matter how you come to put out the power and torque that you do, the only thing that matters is what you put out. If your car is putting out 250 hp at 18,000 rpm, you're still going to lose to an identical car putting out 350 hp at 900 rpm.
