If you just want an open track day car, the skys the limit. Buy whatever toots your horn. Older cars tend to have rust issues, but tend to be lighter than current models. If you want to actually race, you'll want a car that you can race locally, and often. One that's class is actually part of your region is helpful. I'm thinking about a Pro7 car, the owner is looking to upgrade. He made an offer on a Nascar Stock Car, his offer was refused.
