you are going to have other problems to worry about besides the probe taking out the turbine blades. On the other hand, having the probe in the spot where it is most effective, and hooked into a warning-style gauge, will give you your best hope at preventing said damage b/c you may have a moment extra to get out of the throttle if your EGTs shoot up.
