In Reply To is it just me, or is 350ZForums a relatively dead site? posted by ZLover4Life on October 26, 2003 at 05:44 PM

Message I can't speak 100% for Damon, but the way I see it, the other forums can have their multitude of posts about neon kits and which 42lb rim will fit their cars. And in fact, there are other forums that cater to these questions and as far as activity goes, a few do beat us. On the other hand, the UBB sites LOOK like they are full of activity when in reality the UBB style always bumps up threads and starts new timestamps. That and everytime someone opens a message below a thread, a central hit registers as a total. Our style does not do that and registers per each post, so it seems as if things are dead slow. And you know, sometimes they really are. The thing is, we're not here to win a popularity contest. The point of that site, as I see it, is to be an informational site filled with semi-intelligent people that understand the cars, love to drive them and will help other people out when they have problems. Basically like TT.net was designed to be.

The thing is, TT.net came well after the Z32 had already been released and the internet was still quite small compared to nowadays. 350ZForum wont really shine for quite a while I'd guess given that everyone and their mom is able to make a set of forums, spam the other forums with links and bring in people. I've watched at least 8 of them go under stating various reasons...everything from having to charge members fees because they couldn't afford the hosting to a sudden lack of interest in dealing with the flames/kids/cross-forum BS/etc.

350ZForum.com has survived all of that and we were the first on the scene. Provided TT.net is still around and Damon/Greg/etc have the time and patience to deal with ALL of us, 350ZForum.com will be there too. My main goal is to find a worthy stand-in for my role as site admin that can take things up a notch or two. Not owning a 350Z makes it a bit difficult to really get into things over there, to wonder about new products and even perhaps to help design new things. As such, I'm temporary until I or Damon can find someone worthy of the post. Until then, we'll enjoy the ride.
