| Z Back and doing well... Just thought I would post a few pics of what I've been up to for the last few days.
The main bolt in my timing belt tensioner failed after 8000 miles since a tb change at a local Nissan dealership. I brought the car to them for "peace of mind"!!! They actually installed 2 tbs as they dropped a washer from the water pump into the first one. When I picked up the car the valve timing was at least a cog out. I was there for the disassembly and the washer had punched a hole in the belt so large you could put your little finger through it. They preceded to remove the old belt without inserting the stop bolt into the tensioner assembly allowing it fully extend. I didn't know at the time that the tensioner could not be reset. On reassembly the belt was too tight...
A few weeks before the failure I did notice a slight whine from the tb but dismissed it! The effect was 24 valves looking like "mushrooms". I brought the car back to them but after 2 weeks they said they didn't have a mechanic "QUALIFIED" to work on it. I got the car home and got busy with the service manual. I had built a few american V8s in the past, but this was fun!
Got the parts from z1motorsports on Monday 20th. Must say thanks to Robert@Z1 for sorting out the parts. I drove the car to work on Thursday. Its running better than ever! Lots learned!
This was a great opportunity to port the heads and manifolds. I also eliminated the EGR, AIV, and Plenum heating system.
Heads off:

Replace EFI connectors

Lets make a valve seal drift:

Nearly there:

Time for beer while topping up coolant:

Jesus, I must love this car!
