Let's start the tech from the beginning of the day. I get up and chat up with Pete (Sportzcoop) about the tech day today. I get a call from Rob (Dogpile) asking for a confirmation about showing up. Called everyone back and got all my ducks in a row. Pete comes over early... around 2:30 to see if we can start working on a sub box. Went to Home Depot and looked around for mdf's. Too big and heavy. F it.. we go back to my place. Talked to my gf about Mike (stockplayerz) giving her the nuts i need. He asked about the tech day and i said it was going to start around 6 and if he leaves work NOW he'll make it (3:45 at this time). He gets his ass out of work and goes home. I told him to take 80 after GWB and we'll meet up on 80. I had everything planned out.. the timing of his traffic and our traffic. Pete and I make our move and leave my place. We hop on 46 (runs parallel to 80 but local) and hit traffic. Expected. It was 5:15. Mike was on 80 already and my plan is coming together. Finally I decided to hop on 80 by the 287 junction. Mike was only 100 yards behind pete and I by that point. We drove and drove and drove. And drove and drove and drove and drove... stop to get ciggies and a drink and piss at an exxon in Newton (?). There was a guy who was getting gas for his Z06 black with um... a ricey rear wing... sorta (i'm sure that wing costed $800 though). Pete babbles with him and i'll let him say his part. We get lost up there in no-where NJ and instead of staying on 15 we ended up on 206. Made a quick U-ie and got back on the right path. Finally around 6:45/7 ish we get to Rob's place. I open the doors so each one of us can get a spot to work on our cars. Mike didn't bring his lock for his tire so he couldn't rotate his tire but needed an alignment. He moved his car to the alignment machine/space. Pete and I start jacking our car up and stuff. Pete needed to install the tie-rod urethane bushing and i needed to finish my 300 degree camber kit. LET THE PARTY BEGIN!!!!
Pete's, mine (ofcourse, the green rim), rob's miata, and Mike's on the alignment machine all the way down yonder. No pics on the bushing install. nothing too fun about it except that the intercooler piping makes taking the rod out a majoe PITA! Oh, we had to remove the sway bar bracket to get the impact on the nut but when we tried to put the bracket back on, it was impossible on one side. The rear bolt got in good but the front one... well.. the thread was not centered. Very odd. took us a good 35 minutes messing around with it to finally get the bolt in the thread and in there. While I was helping rob getting the bushing done on pete's are, pete was working on my car with john (rob's co-worker). Yes, we think it's taboo if we worked on our own cars... long story. They cut the bolt off and remove the bracket. Bracket:
Bolt and whatever is left of the nut.
Here's the bottom part of the camber kit:
Now, i had to remove the top part of the 300 degree kit to start the install all over again. Funny thing is that the bolt and nut gets FUBARed!!
Maybe i just got a bad kit... who knows. But i had to run to Home Depot (around the corner) to get subsitution bolt and nut:
1/2 inch bolt with 5 inch (i think) depth with a matching nylon fitted nut. Went on like a charm! This pic name says it all:
Ok.. so now we go on to the alignment. WHoever said you can't do the camber on the rear of a coupe, SUCK IT!! we did it on mike's. he was in some god aweful negative camber and we brough it back to spec. I think there's going to be some that's going to argue that it's not possible to do it right. SUCK IT!!! we got it. Here's HOW to do it if you were smart enough:
finger points to the bolt. not the greatest but here's another:
Top of the pic points to the front of the car. If you have to ask what side, you are an idiot.
Here's a close up.. well, as close as my camera phone will let me:
OK.. so we get mike's car done and he leaves for home. He calls twice, once to get more directions and second time to say what a great job Rob did on his car.
It's 1:30 now and we get my car on the alignment pad. OK.. my rear camber nut gets slightly damaged and with my past experience with the camber kit, i call it quits on the rear. The front toe was way out of wack (i knew it, i was driving with the wheel poiting 30 degrees left to go straight). My rear camber figures:
OK.. we get Pete's car on the alignment pad now. Its late and we are all tired. Name this part:
yes, it's a washer. the picture name says it all but from what? from where? from who?? dum dum dummm...... All hell broke loose now:
 and....
These parts flew off right after a loud snap and bang:
Sorry, there's no focus on my camera phone. So the tech day became a tech days. Pete and i crashed over at Rob's place. I'm exhausted. looks like we are going back to Rob's again sometime next week. Another Tech night!??? i mean, it's far but it's indoors and it's fun. OK.. nap time.
