| but nobody wanted to hear. Now before I start I want to say by no means is this an attack on any ones car or any shop, just a comparison between the manual transmission and the overdrive automatic transmission. As we all know Wagz car made 740rwhp on 16gs and a 60 shot through a 5-speed and kyles customer's car made 618rwhp with basically the same setup. Does this mean the sgp car made 122 less crank hourse power? I tend to doubt it. Considering we are talking about two Z savy shops I would tend to say they were both built rather well and tuned just the same. I used to claim that the auto had double the drivetrain loss of the 5 speed, so if we figure a manaual with a good clutch has about 15% loss, then Wagz car made about 850fwhp, and if the SGP car has 30% like I used to say then it would produce about 803fwhp. Now obviously there are probably differences in their setups including the fact that Wagz sprayed the intercooler with Nitrous and was tuned with the Zem which allows the adjustment of ignition as well as full fuel map alterations, and from the sound of it the sgp car was tuned with alphabet soup which did not afford the adjustment of the ignition maps. I may be wrong with some of this so please correct me if so. But the ignition and nitrous cooler can easily account for 50hp. I would be interested to hear what some of the older skeptics have to say about this. The reason I say older is because this is a point I made a few years ago, before many of the newer members were around. Like I said my point here is not to attack anyone but to stir an interesting converstion. Another belief of mine would be that both cars run very similar trap speeds in the 1/4, it still amazes me that it happens, but when I ran 11.1 @ 128 I only dynoed 460, compared to Zhound I believe who dynoed over 5xx and had a similar et and trap speed. Other issues relative to the HP differences may be linked to the converter, how loose was it and was it manually locked up? Food for thought, but I would bet with a 5 speed the sgp car would dyno over 700. PSR
