Message	back to the pan, i pretty much agree. Also, take some oil in your hand, and smear it on the side of your car. Come back in two days. Has that oil 'dried' out yet? No. Of course not. Even if the oil drains down, there's still a protective layer of oil everywhere in the engine. If oil didn't get dirty or hot, there would be no need for a lubrication 'system' where oil get cycled through a filter and oil cooler.
