Message when a good rebuild will do the job. The key is to do some research and find a reputable shop to do the rebuild.

I recently had my motor rebuilt with CP pistons and Eagle rods, and the short block portion of the rebuild cost me about $2200. You need only look at my profile to see that I wring the crap out of it and it has lasted just fine.

There is nothing magical about rebuilding these motors. I asked my rebuilder that question, and he simply stated that it is an engine like any other. He obviously knew what he was doing.
