Message Ok, I saw the post about the lambo doors and everyone flaming the guy for wanting them and such, and thats not cool. Seriously. Just because you know more about the doors, does not make you any different than any other newbie. You were all once car newbies too, so try and show a _little_ sympathy. I realize some people get on here and post 50 posts in a row about 50 different rice mods to do nothing but make their car ugly and add weight, and yes, I dont like ugly body kits, and all that garbage either, but, in respect to "flip up doors", I have some information but I also need some more information to put with it. For the record, I will not add "flip up doors" to my car, so dont bother telling me how stupid it is. I can read your previous posts.

For the information. I live in Los Angeles, CA (actually in the SFV north of "LA"). I was cruising through an industrial area about a year or two ago and saw a green 95 mustang GT. A guy got in it right as I passed and I saw him (with the alarm button) open the door from a fully closed position, to a fully flipped up position, all automatically. Once he got in, and clicked the seat belts, the door automatically closed. He told me the kit was going to retail for almost $10k. Seriously. I do not know if he ever marketed the kit, but it looked immense on his GT. He fabricated the actuator to sit inside the fender and it didnt interfere with anything stock. I believe the car was a Saleen S281 too, but I cant remember, so it actually wasnt a GT if it was a Saleen, but it was one of the two (definitely forest green).

Right after the fact, someone on here posted about lambo doors (this was in 01) and they got flamed (gee, surprised, huh?). The next 300zx I saw with it, was a red one about a month or two ago, and you guys flamed it. Both of these people said they got their kit done for $1,000.00 installed. Cheesy in comparison to the mustang power actuated doors.

Does anyone know about this mustang I am talking about or these doors with power actuators? Are all door kits the kind that open normally and then "flip-up"? I wish I had more information myself, and I even drive by the area I saw it to try and find the shop again, but Ive never had any luck. This place might be the real information for those who want those doors, instead of those cheesy kits. Also, nixit calls them faggoty unsafe doors. What makes the flip-up door so much more unsafe?

For those that can understand words/typing, this is merely for informational purposes/discussion, and I dont advocate the doors, nor do I have any relevant information on them. This is why I am in pursuit of more information. If the doors fall off because of this, I want to know...so I can laugh. =) If they are a crash safety hazard...I also want to know, so I can warn people about it (or let ricers die...and laugh).

Also, I am interested why people consider the "flip-up" doors to be faggoty/rice mods. Everyone here clearly has a different opinion on what is/isn't rice, but why are the doors "ricey" in your opinion? Why do you think they arent right on the Z? Is it because the factory didnt engineer for it to work, therefore when it flips up it actually flips out some and this is what you dont like? Again, just curious.

Eric L.
