I got a 2+2 for my son from my father-in-laws salvage yard in Phila. This car had a salvage title and some body damage (no frame damage that I can see). The car had been stolen at one time and if the insurance company pays off the owner on the vehicle, that vehicle now automatically gets a salvage certificate or salvage title (At least in PA). These vehicles don't necessarily have to be damaged to have a salvage title. Other than some dents in the front and rear of the car my son got, mechanically the car is great with only 40,000 miles on it (car is a 91). The price of $8000 does seem high, salvage title vehicles will lose about 50% of normal book value (rough estimate) just for that type of title. If you know what you are looking for and have a competent mechanic look it over, you can get a good deal, but as always "buyer beware!"
