Message Hi all,

Not getting much response in the tech forum. I'm looking for anyone's experience with running the TT up to 8000 RPM, WOT. Please no flames, I'm not dumb, I do have a point. I've also searched and only found "I think"- not "this happened".

My question is, which parts break/give up first? Valves float? Bearings? Rod bolts? Does anyone know? People put the expensive pistons, rods, etc. in there but I've not seen any real data on improved performance. The stock Z is pretty stout and 8000 RPM isn't moon launch stuff.

Relatedly, what power level is safe on a stock bottom end?

I can go safe and assume high RPM plus big power equals fancy parts, but I'd like a little more data. Those fancy parts are damn expensive and the benefit isn't immediately obvious (benefit of bigger turbos, say, is quite obvious). Additionally, how much more RPM/power can the fancy parts take? 10k$ for 500 RPM isn't a very good deal. I spoke with a guy with a built Celica who says his internals are good to 13,000 RPM. That sounds optimistic to me.

Anyone?
