But my point was that HP is a derived mathematical quantity, while torque the actual measurement of the real force at work.What you said is true, and that's why I say the torque curve owns all. The ultimate goal, regardless of the numerical readings involved, is to have a torque plot that rises rapidly to a plateau and stays there through your redline. If you can achieve that, then two things follow: 1 - You will "feel" the power in your car throughout the whole tach, and 2 - The derived HP plot should be a nice, steadily rising curve.
