Cars that are all HP, low torque don't do well at drag racing. On the other hand, diesel engines which are all torque don't do well either. But I do agree that torque owns for the most part. Those big displacement V8's get up to speed so fast that by the time their engine runs out of breath at high RPM's you've already lost to them. Acceleration closest to the starting line will give you a much better ET than acceleration in the second half of the track. Their trap speed may not be all that, but they've already gained the lead in distance.
