In Reply To Can 100 Watt 9006 bulbs work in my Z? posted by infamouseb on September 26, 2003 at 02:45 PM

Message Here's my long drawn out story of this...

I purchased "ricer" blueish bulbs from a local shop that were 80W instead of 65W. They worked okay but after a year they would start to flicker when I was driving and often just go out. So i'd pull over and thinking it was just a loose connection, wiggle them around and they'd work for a while. Eventually they would just go out and stay out and wouldn't make a connection even if i wiggled them around. So one night I go to pull them out and put in my original bulbs when I realize that both harnesses (the cars harness and the bulb harness) are melted to shit and plastic was preventing a connection between the metal. .Needless to say anything other than 65W runs way too hot and WILL melt the harness. Its a big Pain in the ass so just stick with normal bulbs. I've been happy with Sylvania Silverstar 9006's.
