Message First of all, I would make the logo out of MDF, as you can machine and finish it better than most dimensional wood. Get a scrap or some scraps of MDF, and sand it progressively finer, as you want a pretty fine surface to prime and paint. Get a rattle can of primer, topcoat and clear. Warm the wood to about 120 degrees F (just nice and warm to the touch) prior to and after each thin coat of paint. Take your time and paint each coat carefully, and then use 1500 or so grit sandpaper on the clear finish. Take a fine cleaner wax to the sanded surface, and voila, you should have a bitchin logo!

:I am making a 3 dimensional Z logo for my hatch area, to go with my stereo setup after I change it around. I started making it out of wood today. I want to give it a silver plastic/metal look. So what is the best way to do this? I would guess, sand, and get it as smooth as you can, then what kind of painting process should it go though, to make it look nice? Your help is appreciated. Then I might add lights to it, to make it stand out at night.

:I have a 2+2, and this is what I want everything to look like when its done, nothing fancey, but better than it is. The dots on the Z are where I might want to put lights, sunk into the logo, not really visible when not lit.
