Message I hate to do it but I'm putting my Z up for sale after hydrolocking the motor. I just don't have the time/resources to put a motor in it and fix it up the way I'd like to. If you're an experienced or even a shade tree mechanic, you can get the motor in yourself. I did it a couple of years ago with little help and I've loved driving it since I got it back in 99.
After hydrolocking it, I pulled the plugs and yes there was water in some cylinders and the upper intake. I also checked to make sure it didn't jump time, but even with the cams at rest and the belt removed, you can't budge the crank. I dropped the starter just to make sure it wasn't frozen up. I suspect maybe spun bearings or bent rods. I can rock the cams back and forth, so the top end may be ok. I'm trying to give you the best picture of what may be wrong here, so rest assured I'm not trying to assume that you know what you're getting yourself into. I think it'll need rebuilt or another motor. I could be wrong, but I'll let you decide.

You can find compression tested motors on the web from plenty of places, and I'd recommend Z1motorsports.com They have the whole front clip for $3000, but you can also find just the engines for under $1500.

Here's the specs:
1990 Nissan 300ZX TT - Auto - 147K miles - Charcoal gray
Recently rebuilt tranny with external cooler - $1800
Z1 Platinum driveshaft - $325
Ashpec ECU w/ dual maps and switch for 91 and 103 octane - $350
JWT intake - $120
Crank power pulley - $60
Polished boost hardpipes - $60
Megan Racing Stainless divorced downpipes, testpipes, and cat-back exhaust which has a great deep growl and isn't raspy - $600
EGR and PRVR removed, and Throttle body coolant bypass done
Brembo drilled/slotted rotors, metal pads, and stainless lines - $500
Triple A-pillar gauge pod w/ Autometer boost gauge - $75
New engine wiring harness - $450
Falken GRB512 Tires with good tread
Other things that I'm forgetting as well as extra parts

This thing was pretty fast. I've estimated by 1/4 trap speed of 109mph that it's probably in the neighborhood of 350hp at the wheels. All I know is at 13psi of boost, it hauled! The body is generally in good shape with the usual rash, a couple of dings, and some paint issues.

I'm asking $2500 for it, and I'm not parting it out, since I need it out of the way. I put the prices there for reference. You could put a motor in it and still be well under what you'd spend for a running one that's still stock. Heck, I paid over $4000 for the stuff I listed!
