I have a 92TT that was basically kept in the garage for the last 10 years. I moved to snow country and just never had time to joy ride in it. I recently moved to a warmer climate and started driving it every day again. It was even better than I remembered. Friday night it was parked at a friend's apartment while we took a road trip in his car. Not exactly sure how it happened, but it caught fire during the night and is now totaled. After looking at some of the ignition wires, I suspect someone who didn't know what they were doing tried to steal it and things went badly.
There is still tons of parts that were untouched by the fire. Besides a great set of 18" OZ rims and a low mileage TT motor, there must be a bunch of other parts that were left in tact. The fire was isolated mostly to the interior of the car. The salvage yard will come take it for free, but doesn't want to pay me anything for it. The car is located in Mammoth lakes California. This car was in unbelievable shape and ran perfect. Just makes me sick everytime I think about what happened.
