Message	DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 are both glycol-based, thus can be mixed. You want to change fluid every couple of years, so should drain out as much of the old fluid as you can, since it gets dirty and absorbs water. But you dont need to worry about interactions. DOT 5 is silicone-based fluid and is not mixable with the others. They should really change the numbering system so it makes more sense.
