The clear coat you get in a spray can ain't worth a flip. I've had bad luck even with the "2 part" clear coat spray cans. It will eventually start pealing and look like crap. I painted mine with engine paint and said to hell with clear coat. I sand blasted them to create a good surface so the paint would adhere. I then let them sit in some 90dgr sun for a few days. That was several years ago and they still look as if I just painted them.
